Potomac Village
Black Fridayshopping is certainly different this year, with most stores staying closed Thanksgiving night for the first time in recent memory. If you’re planning to visit Westfield Montgomery this weekend, be sure to check the mall’s website before you leave. There you’ll find an online calculator for real-time capacity updates, ensuring that mall traffic stays within the county’s mandated limits. Individual stores also are monitoring visitors, so you may have to wait for your turn to go inside. And if the kids want to visit Santa, they’ll need an appointment and a mask. Meanwhile, here are a couple of new places to spend your holiday dollars:
- The Lego store, which opened last month, has lots of family projects that are perfect for quarantine: Beatles wall art, Stranger Things vignettes and tons of stuff for Star Wars fans.
- Amazon 4-Star, a recent addition on the mall’s lower level, is a one-stop shop for everything from cookware, tech and toys to games, books and art supplies.
- Elite Jewelers is now open on the second level near Macy’s Home, with a wide selection of diamonds, gemstones and fine watches.
- BrookieGirl, newly open in the Nordstrom wing, is a bath and body shop owned by a local entrepreneurial family. You’ll find it on the lower level near Forever 21.
- See’s Candies is back again for the holidays — this time inside the former Bose storefront.
- Everything But Water, which went dark early in the pandemic, made a surprise return in the Nordstrom wing this week with a store full of swimsuits, hats and beach gear.
