A collaborative effort with hundreds of libraries worldwide who help digitize "orphaned" works whose copyright holders could not be found, or works that are now public. Some of the older books and orphaned books can be accessed in their entirety but others are simply abstracts with a cover image and links to buy or borrow them from bookstores and libraries.

•Project Gutenberg
Over 38,000 free books to choose from in a variety of formats including EPUB and Kindle. Most are now in public domain from "orphaned works" or the authors have given permission for Project Gutenberg to provide worldwide access for free.
