Retail and Download copies
Hey Crossing Fanatics :)
I just want to make absolute certain of something. If you have both a pre-installed or downloaded copy of the game, plus the actual physical game itself, it is still only possible to have ONE single town right? The 3DS treats it as the same town and won't make a new file? Correct?
Dloaded / Pre-Installed copy
How much space on the 3DS does this game take up? And on the SD card?
Just curious. I'm planning on the purchase of the 3DS system (finally!!!) this weekend along with New Leaf provided I can find a copy of the game here. However, there's a chance I might not find a copy and may have to wait for the next shipment to come in, and I might just end up having to Dload.
Anyone have any issues with the Downloading process? Is there any performance issues or differences between the Downloadable and Physical copies? Like, loading times or flickering screens?
Pardon the weird questions but sometimes I get confused easily checking out different sources and I read different things.
Been itching to play this game for ages but was waiting til I saved up enough cash for the system. Can't play the game without a system after all. haha
Thanx everyone :)

I believe it does act as if its the same game file so yes only one town.
As for space taken up a quick google search said 6, 002 blocks will be used.
As for whether or not to buy the digital or physical copy. I have the physical which I prefer based on the fact if something ever goes wrong with my system atleast I have the copy. I don't think there's a difference other then if u like selling your used games.
Hope that helps a bit

Cool thank you :) I always prefer physical copies myself but if I can't find one today or tomorrow, then I may have to Dload it instead. I've enough in my pocket right now to buy the game, and the rest of my $ comes tomorrow so I can get the system. Still, even if I have the Dload version, I can still get the physical copy at a later date when I see one for sale, as a backup.

For sure. I would do the same if I was in your position. Actually I almost did ,but I managed to find one copy that was a pre order that was never picked up :D.
Good luck and you will definetly enjoy the game.

I dont know if its a big factor for you but one person was able to make multiple towns using the download version due to the save being all on the sd card. The only thing is its a little complicated as you cave to only switch like 2 files not the whole save for it to work (otherwise it only accepts the most recent save). I might still be able to find the quote where the guy said it if your interested (I have physical so cant test it).

You can have a digital copy and a physical copy on the same 3DS and have two towns. I bought the AC3DS bundle as well as the physical game card.
However, there's no separate data for StreetPass and SpotPass. So if you receive and access StreetPass/SpotPass data in one town, the other town won't be able to access it because the other town already downloaded it first.
Not really a big deal since you can always redownload the SpotPass data. StreetPass is only for sharing your house furnishings with others.

Okay cool. Thanx for the assistance everyone :)
I went around today to all the shops in my town and not a single place has a physical copy so tomorrow I will get the 3DS XL and an eShop card to hopefully dload the game. I can get a physical copy later whenever they become available again!
