To renew your 10-year U.S. passport you must complete the DS-82 application form online and submit it with all other required documents. You can renew your 10-year U.S. passport in one of the following ways:

1. In-person application: Prepare the DS-82 form, prepare documents and fees mentioned below, make an appointment online and submit the entire application package in person at the Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy on the day of your appointment.
2. Mail-in application: You may send your passport application package through our courier listed below.

In-person Application Requirements:

1. Completed and signed form DS-82 (you may fill out the form online, print a hard copy and bring it to your appointment)
2. Two 2×2 passport photos for the application. Click here for more information on photo basics.
3. Passport fee: Currently the renewal fee for an adult passport is $110 or equivalent in Bangladeshi taka. You should bring cash in one currency and make the payment at the Consular Section on the day of the appointment.

Mail-in Application requirements:

1. A completed DS-82 Checklist (PDF 480 KB) and a copy of the checklist.
2. A signed hard copy of the completed DS-82 online application form.
3. Two 2×2 passport photos for the application. Click here for more information on photo basics.
4. Passport fee payment: When applying by mail, please make the payment at any bank in Bangladesh.  Don’t forget to take a print out and bring with you a copy of the payment instructions (PDF 331 KB) with you when visiting the bank.

Courier information:

When applying by mail, send us your application package through Saimon Overseas Ltd. at the following addresses. Please note that the Consular Section is not responsible for your documents and fees submitted to the courier.  All passports must be picked up from Saimon Overseas Ltd.

The courier fee for submitting your completed application package at one of Saimon Overseas Ltd.’s offices is BDT 575 (15% VAT is included).

Application tips:

1. Your application will not be accepted without your most recent U.S. passport. Please submit your most recent U.S. passport along with your application, it will be cancelled and returned by mail along with your new passport. Valid visas in the submitted passport will not be cancelled.
2. The Embassy provides neither expedited services nor overnight delivery. If you have a travel plan within this time, please plan accordingly before your application submission.
3. Print the form, but please do not use two-sided printing.
4. When completing the “Mailing address” section on our forms, list an address in Bangladesh.
5. When completing the “Emergency Contact” section on our forms, please list an emergency contact in the United States.
6. Wearing eyeglasses in passport photos is not allowed.
7. During the processing period, a Consular Officer may also request additional documents in support of your application.

Passport Delivery or Pick Up

1. When your new passport is ready for pick up, you will receive a notification email from the Embassy.
2. Upon receiving this email, if you have not submitted your old U.S. passport along with your passport renewal application then immediately submit your old U.S. passport to the Saimon Overseas office for cancellation.  Once the Embassy cancels your old passport, you may collect the canceled old passport and the new passport within 1-2 days from the Saimon Overseas office. Don’t forget to bring your receipt with you.
3. As always, you have the option of allowing an authorized person to pick up your passport on your behalf.  The authorized person must bring a government issued ID and will need to complete the authorization form (available at Saimon Overseas Ltd. and on the Embassy’s website).
