How to Resume a Download After a Lost Connection
The ability to resume interrupted downloads can save you a lot of time, especially when downloading large files like software programs. All major browsers, including Firefox, Internet Explorer and Chrome, enable you to resume a download from where it left off in case of a lost connection, so your download will pause, but it won't be lost. Once you've restored your connection and browser, you can resume the download.
2
Click "View Downloads" to open the Download Manager.
3
Click on the "Resume" button next to the stopped download to start downloading it again. The download resumes at the point where it left off, so you don't need to download the file from the beginning again.
1
Click the "Tools" or "Firefox" button at the top of the window.
2
Click "Downloads" to open the Downloads window.
3
Click the "Resume" button next to the paused item to continue the download. If you can't resume the download this way, click "Retry" to download the file from the beginning.
1
Click on the Chrome menu button on the toolbar.
2
Click "Downloads." Alternatively, press "Ctrl-J" to open the Downloads page.
3
Click "Resume" to restart your download.

Tips
- If you can't remember where your browser saved a downloaded file, you can quickly find it using that browser's download manager. In Chrome, click on the arrow next to the file, and then click "Show in folder." In Firefox, right-click a file, and then select "Open containing folder." For Internet Explorer, simply click on a file in the Download Manager to view its location.
- If your download has stopped several times, the file's data may be corrupted. If a downloaded file doesn't work, try downloading the entire file again.
