There are certainly risks involved. First, it's rather difficult brick the ECU. (meaning, it's totally dead and not good for anything except a brick) The good news is, virtually all situations are recoverable with the MED17.x.x ECU.

It is the users responsibility to ensure that the laptop battery does not die, the laptop stays on and fully functional through a complete programming session (i.e. - does not hibernate/sleep, shut off, or otherwise stop functioning). It is the users responsibility to ensure that the vehicle battery does not drop below the voltage threshold necessary to maintain the programming session with the ECU. For MED17.x.x programming sessions, it is HIGHLY recommended to connect a battery charger before beginning a programming session in all cases. It is the users responsibility to ensure that the cable stays well connected to both the OBD-2 port and the laptop throughout a programming session. It is the users responsibility to ensure that they're using a stable internet connection throughout the entire programming session. Failure to ensure any of the above, increases the risks involved, but are all very easily manageable with responsibility by the user.

UniConnect+ does check system resources prior to beginning a programming session, to help users, but ultimately it is the users responsibility, as only the user can ensure these things are respected.

Now, with that being said, we have implemented recovery solutions that are available for users, but surely take the time to try avoiding that route if at all possible. Again, virtually all situations are recoverable with the MED17.x.x ECU. We also have provided DETAILED instructions that are very important to read through in their entirety.

Yes, UC+ is as proactive as possible to avoid any situations from occurring, but as I mentioned several times above, it's ultimately the user's responsibility for the things mentioned above.
